Redesigning the business school classroom should be right up there with overhauling outdated curricula. How can we prepare young adults for the future while cramming them into relics of the past? The answer: we can’t.
Look at today’s classrooms—old, cramped, uncomfortable, and technologically deprived. We’re trying to teach AI using 90s-era projectors and Wi-Fi that belongs in a museum. The seating? It’s like a bad joke. The furniture doesn’t move, the lighting is a disaster, and there’s nowhere to write. Some schools are still running on VGA cables and Wi-Fi that struggles to load a webpage. How the hell are students supposed to develop creativity and critical thinking in spaces that look like a bureaucratic dungeon?
We need a total overhaul. Future classrooms must be built for interaction—with smart tech, flexibility, and multisensory integration. Picture it: modular furniture that moves, ergonomic seating that doesn’t make your back scream, writable surfaces everywhere, and tech that just works. 4K projectors, high-speed connectivity, AI-enhanced tools—classrooms that actually make learning engaging.
And don’t even get me started on maintenance. Classrooms should be treated like hotel rooms—spotless, fully equipped, and ready for use. Water fountains, modern printers, plotters, temperature control—all basics that shouldn’t even be a question.
Immersive, collaborative environments aren’t some luxury; they’re non-negotiable. Students deserve spaces that make them want to engage, places that reflect the future workplaces they’re training for. If the hospitality industry can get comfort and experience right, why are we still failing at it?
We need to stop pretending that shoddy classrooms are enough. It’s time to align our physical spaces with the ambitions we have for our students. Let’s create real launchpads for future leaders—smart, flexible, multisensory, AI-driven environments that inspire, facilitate, and empower. That’s how we truly transform learning.
